The Gunfighter (Eric Kissack, 2014)

The Gunfighter is a multi-award winning short film, that builds on the basis of a traditional classic western, having a narrator set the story for a lone gunman in a Wild West saloon. However, the characters within the film can hear the narrator, and it sets up for a comical sequence of events, leading to hilarious climax. The film is a big twist on the typical Western film, bringing a comedic flourish making for an enjoyable watch.

Mise-en-scene:

The film is based on old typical western style films, so the scenery, lighting and setting all consist and help to establish this short film as of the Western genre. The whole film has one setting; a dark saloon with only natural light and a mostly wooden interior. A saloon was the usual place used in Western films for shootouts, so using such a typical set helps to identify the film as a western.

The clothing worn by the characters is typical of a Western film. All the characters wear stereotypical clothing
